Governor Hochul Announces 500 New Jobs at Moog with $25 Million Investment in Erie County

Empire State Development Acting Commissioner and President and Chief Executive Designate Hope Knight said: “We congratulate Moog on its significant success in Western New York. This leading employer’s commitment to creating hundreds of new jobs is a huge win for the regional economy. Moog’s expansion also reinforces the Regional Economic Development Council’s strategy of encouraging the growth of the advanced manufacturing sector.

New York Power Authority Chairman John R. Koelmel noted, “We are proud to support Moog as a long-time customer of NYPA and are excited to see its continued growth and expansion benefiting the Buffalo-Niagara region. It is another outstanding example of how the Niagara Power Project and its hydroelectric power generation are the backbone of economic development in Western New York.

Over the past 70+ years, Moog engineers have developed the ability to design and manufacture the most advanced motion control products for aerospace, defense, industrial and medical applications – applications where precise control of speed, force, acceleration and fluid flow is essential. Its motion control portfolio has grown to include all forms of actuation technology, sophisticated control electronics and system software. Moog fosters a work culture for its employees where the opportunity to solve a difficult control problem is always welcome.

Moog also has a working relationship with the University at Buffalo to support the local workforce, including an Endowed Chair for Innovation with the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The company offers a co-op program for students to facilitate positions in accounting and finance, human resources, supply chain, computer science as well as mechanical, electrical and software engineering. Many of those who participate are offered full-time jobs after graduation.

State Senator Patrick Gallivan noted, “Moog Inc.’s continued growth and expansion is great news for Elma, East Aurora and Western New York. Moog’s investment, combined with support from Empire State Development, will not only create hundreds of new jobs, but send a positive message about our region’s highly skilled workforce and ongoing efforts to revitalize our economy. I thank Moog for their longstanding commitment to our region and congratulate them on this exciting project.

County Executive Mark Poloncarz noted, “Moog is an important part of Erie County’s overall economic portfolio and this investment is great news for everyone. As an Erie County-based company, Moog understands that our local workforce and business climate are exceptional and that business can grow and prosper here. I thank Governor Kathy Hochul and Moog President John Scannel and his team for their joint work in securing this tremendous investment in Erie County.

Elma Town supervisor Wayne Clark said: “The Town of Elma is thrilled to hear that Moog will once again increase the number of employees on its campus. We look forward to welcoming new recruits to the region and enjoying their contribution to the regional economy.

Aurora City Supervisor James Bach said: “Moog has always been a great company for our area and I think it’s great that they are growing, employing local residents and supporting the city’s economy.”
